A chance conversation between a customer and ASDA Winsford's events co-ordinator has led to the store's new pharmacy department supporting an Atlantic rowing challenge.

Rachel Smith, who works for Bank of Scotland in Chester, is a frequent visitor to Winsford and often pops into the store for her shopping.

Chatting to Caroline Copnall, ADSA'a events co-ordinator, Rachel mentioned she was about to stock up on a range of toiletries and skincare and moisturing products for a gruelling trans-Atlantic rowing event that hopes to raise £100,000 for Breast Cancer Care.

Caroline immediately said that the new pharmacy would donate products for Rachel and her fellow rower, Lin Griesel, needed for the demanding 3000 mile journey from La Gomera in the Canaries, to the Caribbean island of Antigua in less than 75 days.

The pair set off on December 2nd and expect to land in Antigua in mid February 2008, as part of the Woodvale Challenge Atlantic Rowing Race.

But before they set off, Rachel will be popping into the new ASDA Winsford pharmacy at 10am on November 2nd to collect her donated products.

The banking executive really is no stranger to the town: Fords of Wisford work with Bank of Scotland and she regularly visits them on business.

And not only that, the car retailer has also become a corporate sponsor of the bid by Rachel and Lin to smash the current British record for rowing the Atlantic - and reach that £100,000 target in aid of Breast Cancer Care.
