Your support is urgently needed to help two women facing the challenge of a lifetime so that much needed money can be raised for Breast Cancer Care.

Lin Griesel and Rachel Smith will be taking part in the 2007 Woodvale Challenge Atlantic Rowing Race. The journey will start on 2 December from La Gomera in the Canaries, Taking almost 3,000 miles and 70-100 days to finally reach Antigua. the aim is to raise £100,000 for Breast Cancer Care, but this can only be achieved with your support. They must also raise the £50,000 needed to take part in the race.

41,000 women and 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each yar in the UK, which means that every 13 minutes someone receives the devastating news that they have breast cancer. Cancer is likely to affect many of us at some point in our lives and charities like Breast Cancer Care ensure that real help and advice is available for anyone who needs it.

Lin and Rachel have been fundraising since September 2005 and have impressively raised over £36,000. However, with only ten months till the start of the challenge, it is essential that fund raising efforts are increased so that the much needed money can be raised.

Many companies have already been generous in sponsoring the cause, including BoatQuays, SsangYong, Pantiles Edge Gallery, Garmin and G Comm to name just a few. Their sponsorship takes Lin and Rachel that much closer to achieving their goal, but there is still a long way to go and it will take the support of many other companies and individuals alike to collectively achieve this.

Over £4,000 alone is needed to ensure htat Lin and Rachel have enough food for what could potentially be a 100 day journey. They will be pushing themselves physically to the limits and nutrition will be an essential part of their challenge. The 'feed us for a day' scheme allows you to get involved and very easily contribute to the success of the challenge.

Each day const £75, apart from Christmas, New Year and both women's birthdays where Lin and Rachel will get £100 to allow for a few luxuries, not nearly a replacement for for missing their families at these special times. If you purchase a day, your name will go on the boat and website! You will also provide a motivational phrase for the team to read out on you sponsored dya and receive the Atlantic Rowing Challenge newsletter to follow their progress from right now until the end of the challenge.

Ends.
