Hot off the press... We've received confirmation that Rachel's specially developed pilot session for The Prince's Trust has been incorporated into the Get Into programmes for 2009. In November, Rachel was asked by training provider, Yellow Brick Road Training and Development Ltd, to develop a two part session and deliver it to a group of 16-25 year old people as part of the 'Get Into' programme. The morning was a resounding success and as a result, the session has been incorporated as a regular feature of this educational programme in 2009. There are five confirmed dates already and Yellow Brick Road expect more to be added as the year goes on. The session comprised of one hour relating to Rachel's dragon boat racing and coaching career, then after a short break, focused on the trials, tribulations and lessons learnt from the Atlantic Rowing Challenge. At the very end of the course, all participants make a presentation, and every one of them referred back to Rachel's speeches in their individual presentations, proving that the content was highly motivating, inspirational and memorable. Rachel said 'It is a real honour to be involved in delivering this kind of educational programme, and not something I ever imagined in the long days out at sea! Not everyone chooses to row an ocean, but we all have our oceans to row, and it's great to see that these young people can benefit from our experiences and be motivated to tackle new challenges - without even getting wet!' The Prince's Trust Get Into programmes are aimed at unemployed people aged 16-25. They provide intensive training and experience in a specific sector, such as sport, retail, construction - and many more. The sectors are selected to give participants the best possible chance of finding a job when the course finishes.
