To all you lucky ladies out there getting your Valentines flowers, chocolates, lovely lingerie and a nice meal out tonight, think of us stuck in our little pink boat so far away from our partners, Paul & Charles. We miss them so much but having now missed Christmas, New Year, Our Birthdays and Valentines Day, we can’t wait to get back home to spend some valuable time with them.
While we write this, Lin’s Dad and her Son, Liam are in the air, making their way to Antigua. This is quite a special trip for Lin’s Dad who has never flown before – hopefully he’ll enjoy it. Liam will be getting stuck into whatever entertainment is onboard by now. Rachel’s Mum will be flying out tomorrow and her Aunt & Uncle are already there. This is so exciting for us as it makes it all that more real that we are nearly there. This past week has been so tough – much harder than we expected – but we are hanging on in there, at times by a thread! Our bodies are getting to the end of their ability to take much more of the battering we’re putting them through and they are longing for a good long soak in the bath, a full nights sleep in a bed and a few days lounging by the pool – tanning the white bits that can’t be done on the boat! Our GPS says we have just 108 nautical miles left to go and the next bottle of champers is ready. With new calculations being done all the time, it’s now looking likely that we’ll arrive in the middle of the night (Antiguan time) early hours Sunday morning. Messages:- Philippa Campbell – Thank you for all your messages along the way. The dinner and hot tub invite sounds fantastic. We should be at Women’s Henley again this year as Diane agreed to let us come back so maybe we can come to stay again and bore you with all our photos and salty seadog tales! Mandy Howlett – Hi there, lovely to hear from you. We’ll give you a call the next time we’re in Devon and have a good catch up. Emma Finn – It’s so hard to savour such tough conditions but we are picking out nice bits to remember e.g. the sunrises/sunsets and stars at night. Christina Jenkins – Thank you again for all your support and encouragement. Also for the Arsenal updates, it’ll be fantastic if we could go and see them. Jo McKelvey – thank you so much for hosting my Dad and Liam last night and for seeing them virtually into their seats on the plane. You truly are an amazing friend and I can’t wait to catch up with you back home. Caroline at ABSAR – it was blowing a hoolie here yesterday too – guess you got it a few hours later. Can’t wait to meet you. To Paul & Charles – we have a lot of catching up to do when we get home!!! To Emmanuel & Saupy – hope everything is going well and that baby Alexander arrives safely and on time. Love and Hugs to you all from Lin & Rachel |
