Apologies for the state of this blog but we’ve just had another ¼ bottle of Champagne because we’ve heard we’ve finally passed the 1,000nmile mark early this morning. We now feel like we’re on the homeward stretch and it’s a great feeling.
Weather conditions remain the same which is incredibly frustrating but again we did the sensible thing last night, tied everything down and got a nights rest in.The result, we traveled less than a mile South but completed 20 miles West. Maybe we should rename it the Atlantic Drifting Challenge!! For those of you following life onboard, you might be curious to know how we pass the time when we’re holed up in the cabin. We have a variety of intriguing ways to keep ourselves entertained including:-
We also had a lovely text message from Jen Land Support for The Reason Why Team. We stayed in the same hotel as them in La Gomera and they’re a great pair who we’d love to stay in touch with after the race. Messages:- Bill & Hillary JW – we’ve been trying to call Joe and Andrew all week – please pass on our best wishes to them, hope everything is ok. Jo, sorry for making you worried with the phone call. All is well honestly. We just get a tad low now and then. Thank you so much for having everything so well organized and thank you to Louise for sorting the puddle in my kitchen and the car. Gordon & Dave – message from Sebastian the ship’s bear, my fur is damp and I need a rum, tell these girls to row a bit faster will you. Although the Champers is quite nice! Jo @ WK Physio – Thank you for the good physio vibes, they seem to be working. Rachel’s looking forward to that drink when she gets back. Syd Squid – Re. Arsenal – you very funny guy, I shoot you last! Dave Evans – Thank you for your messages – nearly freaked me out with the Joss bit though – Cheers mate! Love & hugs, Lin & Rachel. |
