It seems to us that one day just rolls into the next and we just continue to row along on our 2 hour shifts. The weather is continuing to be good to us and looks set to stay that way for the next 3 days. Brilliant hot sunshine during the day meaning we even got our batteries up to 13v today – of course that meant the water maker went straight on and we started to charge up a few things – walkman and video camera to start with. The waves are still a bit choppy making rowing quite difficult but we keep on going and if it gets too bouncy, we just steer the boat and let the waves carry us along – preserving our energy for when we must row.
Rachel replaced one of the wheels on the rowing seat this morning as it had broken down inside and was leaving a lot of rusty mess in the runner. It was also quite uncomfortable as it wasn’t running smoothly any more. This can be a bit tricky as there are a lot of washers and it’s very oily and messy but Rachel made light work of it. Lin managed to get her hair wash today too. She was waiting for the sea to calm so she could go for a swim before washing her hair but that’s not happening right now and after six weeks without washing her hair, decided to do it today. See photo in gallery of the pure pleasure that brings. It’s amazing how the things that you really take for granted at home become such luxury to us out here. We appear to be making fantastic progress since Rachel cleaned Barbara Ivy’s bottom and are fast approaching the half way mark – we await confirmation of that! We mentioned before that we have a bit of a global following, well this seems to be even more than we first thought. Yachtpals.com have members worldwide following our progress and sending messages through Kim in San Francisco. Hey if any of you are in Antigua when we arrive, it would be great to catch up with you. We’re both doing our Day Skippers Course next year too, courtesy of Plain Sailing in Brixham, Devon, so maybe we’ll join Yachtpals.com. Bye for now Love & hugs, Lin & Rachel |
