Yesterday we finished scrutineering and took Barbara Ivy out for a spin round the harbour. It was a beautiful day and if anything, having had a peek at the Atlantic, she seemed a little sad to have to come back in to the marina! All of the boats went out for a row although most stayed close to home. The wind was brisk and ideal for the race start, but we didn’t want to be accused of setting off before the man says go!

We still can’t quite believe that we’ve made it this far and are thrilled, excited and a little nervous to be taking our place on the start line with the other boats. It’s a real privilege to join the other teams, some of who will remain lifelong friends, as we set off together. We can’t wait to see them all at the other side of the water. Lin and I are both feeling fine and enjoyed the row yesterday. It felt fantastic to be out on the water again and the boat was perfectly balanced despite the full load of kit and food.  We hope to send messages to you every few days but might be a bit quiet at first as we settle into our routine. You can follow the race progress at www.atlanticrowingrace2007.co.uk where race positions are updated every 12 hours.  So for now, thank you for your support and we hope you enjoy the race!
