Yesterday Barbara Ivy was lowered onto the water in La Gomera. With just 3 days to go now, we're finishing off the final few jobs in order to pass scrutineering.
We've worked solidly since we got here to make sure she's in tip top condition for the race. Over the last few days we've sanded her hull down and applied a new coat of white antifoul. Fresh reflective tape has made her highly visible at night and today we painted the deck. Tomorrow we'll fasten down the final bits of kit ready for the off. We'll take her out for a run tomorrow and start the watermaker up - if it doesn't work, George better be by the phone! The conditions are reported to be excellent - both for the start and the race itself. We're both feeling good and still looking forward to getting out there. The sea looks fantastic from here and the fish life is spectacular. We'll try to get another entry on before we go. Keep watching this space! |
