Nicely rested and having enjoyed the sunshine and calmer seas, we’re now back to what we’ve experienced for most of this challenge. We received a weather forecast from Woodvale “Wind set to remain NE-ENE 18-23kts over next 92 hours.” |

Since our nice night of sleep we’ve had almost totally glorious weather. Really hot sunshine during the day, flat calm seas and during the night, the moon is so bright, it’s lighting the way for us and again the seas are flat calm. This bodes really well for Lin trying to row with one foot out of the shoes and the other in the wrong shoe while her foot mends itself as the boat is sitting really steady and stops her falling off the seat. |

Last night we finally gave in to the bad weather and decided to both get into the cabin and sleep. This is something that Rachel has really not wanted to do from the start for fear of the boat capsizing due to her constantly wanting to turn broadside onto the wind and not feeling she needed to rest so much. However, Lin has always felt convinced this wouldn’t happen given the good record of this make of boat and the fact that we are carrying more ballast this time than has ever been required before. There is also the point that when the wind is so strong that you can’t stop her turning (especially for Lin with her bad foot), if she did capsize, Lin would rather be in the cabin than out on deck! |

Since our last blog we’ve been making great headway, but it hasn’t all been straightforward. We’re still experiencing big seas, but with a following (ish) wind, we’re keeping our sights set on Antigua and figuring out how to make a finish line that’s just a n/mile long! But we’re also seeing the degrees West move along at a pleasing rate – normally the second half of the race distance is completed in a shorter time than the first half. We’re certainly hoping for that as we can’t wait to see our families and partners again soon. |

Just a very brief blog today to tell you all that we’re so excited today and have cause to celebrate again. A quick text message to Tony at HQ gave us the confirmation that at 09:00hrs this morning we had rowed 1,286 n/miles from the start and have 1,284 n/miles left to get to the finish. |
